The Hotel Belmont Vancouver MGallery, a boutique property in the heart of downtown Vancouver, underwent a major interior renovation to upgrade its guest experience. Floors Depot was selected as the flooring contractor and supplier for this multi-phase project, which required flooring materials designed to withstand the demands of hospitality: 24/7 foot traffic, luggage wheels, frequent cleaning, and design-conscious guests.

Project Timeline

The Hotel Belmont renovation was completed over approximately 12 weeks:

  • Weeks 1–2: Removal of existing flooring, demolition, and subfloor assessment

  • Weeks 3–4: Subfloor prep, levelling compounds applied, and moisture barrier installations where required

  • Weeks 5–7: Glue-down installation of luxury vinyl plank in corridors, lounges, and dining spaces

  • Weeks 8–9: Porcelain tile installation in washrooms, lobby, and high-moisture areas

  • Weeks 10–11: Hospitality carpet supply and installation in select guest areas for acoustic control

  • Week 12: Professional painting of walls, ceilings, and trims, final finishing, and walkthrough with client

By phasing the work, we ensured seamless coordination with other trades and minimized disruption for hotel management.

Luxury Vinyl Plank for High-Traffic Guest Corridors

Floors Depot supplied and installed hospitality-grade luxury vinyl plank (LVP) across guest corridors, lounges, and dining areas.

Why was vinyl plank chosen:

  • Durability: Withstands heavy foot traffic and rolling luggage without scratching or denting

  • Moisture resistance: Ideal for hotel environments where daily cleaning and spills are common

  • Acoustics: Glue-down installation provides stability and reduces noise transfer between floors

  • Design versatility: Wood-look patterns deliver a warm, contemporary feel that matches boutique interiors

The LVP used was a commercial-grade glue-down product rated for 20+ year service life, ensuring long-term performance.

Porcelain Tile in Lobby & Washrooms

In high-moisture and high-traffic areas like washrooms and the main lobby, we installed porcelain tile flooring.

Key advantages:

  • Slip resistance: Crucial for guest safety in bathrooms and wet areas

  • Ease of cleaning: Handles hotel janitorial schedules without staining or fading

  • Design statement: Herringbone and geometric patterns elevated the boutique aesthetic

The tiles were installed with high-performance epoxy grout to ensure water resistance and easy maintenance.

Premium Carpet for Guest Comfort

Guest rooms and selected lounge areas received premium hospitality carpet.

Benefits of carpet in hotels:

  • Acoustic control: Softens footsteps and reduces noise transfer between rooms

  • Comfort: Adds a luxurious underfoot feel in private guest spaces

  • Design flexibility: Carpet patterns and textures contribute to the hotel’s boutique brand personality

This material was chosen for its stain resistance, fade resistance, and fire-rating compliance, making it ideal for commercial hospitality applications.

Professional Painting & Finishing

Floors Depot also managed the painting and finishing package, refreshing:

  • Guest corridors and lounges

  • Washrooms and lobby trims

  • Ceilings and high-traffic touch points

By coordinating flooring and wall finishes, the project achieved a cohesive and elevated look that reflects MGallery’s boutique identity.
